Understanding intercultural situations demands the development
of learning competencies in the participant.
Possible training objectives:
• To realize what culture is (cultural learning)
• To realize that there are different levels of cultures
• To be aware to the different layers of culture
• To understand their culture (our target groups) in order to
understand the necessary approach in order to reach them
• To raise awareness of the INTERcultural learning aspect (intercultural
versus multicultural)
• To introduce ICL as a concept, an approach, in the methodology
of international projects
• To enable participants to look from different perspectives in
intercultural situations
• To widen the cultural horizon (having more criteria of
identifying other cultures)
• To raise understanding about intercultural communication
• To increase international team work competencies
• To become aware of stereotypes and prejudices about one’s own
culture and possible reasons for them
• To explain difference between stereotypes, prejudices and
discrimination
• To enable participants to embed an intercultural process in
their own projects and programmes
• To enable participants to deal flexibly with cultural rules
• To enable participants to deal practically with intercultural
conflicts.
